Remodeling Services in Powder Springs, GA

Hiring a contractor or running the job yourself in Powder Springs

There are two common ways to run a remodel. One is to hand the whole project to a single company; the other is to act as your own general contractor and hire trades directly. In Powder Springs both routes are possible. The city issues permits only to contractors holding a license or to owners who live in the home being altered, and a homeowner who serves as general contractor or does the work personally can sign an affidavit to get permits in their own name (permitting and inspections).

Powder Springs is in Cobb County, and its Community Development office accepts permit applications only electronically. A permit is needed before anyone installs, alters, repairs or replaces a plumbing system, and the city's building inspections are performed by a third-party provider.

Managing your own project means taking on the scheduling, the material orders and the coordination between trades, which is a lot to juggle next to a full-time job. Neither route is right for everyone, so it helps to be honest about how much time you can give the work.

What Precision Remodeling handles

When you hire us to run a project, we take on the planning, the measuring and the sequence of trades. That covers kitchens, bathrooms, basements, room additions, new homes, staircases, interior and exterior painting, and hardwood, engineered, laminate, vinyl, LVP, tile and carpet floors.

Each estimate is written and lists the work in the order it will be done, along with the materials and any selections you have not made yet. Changes are agreed in writing before they go ahead. If you are leaning toward doing part of the job yourself, we can talk about where the handoff would fall so the schedule stays clear for everyone.
