City or county: who handles your Marietta permit

A Marietta mailing address does not always mean a property sits inside city limits. The city's homeowner permit page explains how to check: when the county parcel record lists tax district "(4) MARIETTA", the home is inside the city, and "(9) UNINCORPORATED" means Cobb County has jurisdiction instead.

Within the city, the Building Division requires a plumbing permit for any work on a plumbing system, water supply and sewer lines included. Applications go through Marietta's online SagesGov system. Inspections are done in person, as virtual inspections began phasing out on November 1, 2024.
