Remodeling a Lake City home, one decision at a time

Precision Remodeling works on kitchens, bathrooms, basements, floors, staircases and painting in Lake City, and on bigger jobs such as room additions and new houses. Whatever the size, the first visit is about the room as it is today: how you use it, what bothers you about it, and which walls, pipes and wires would have to move to fix that.

From there we write a scope that lists the work in the order it happens, the materials you have chosen and the items still to be selected. If you change your mind about a tile or a vanity partway through, the change is written down with its effect on cost and schedule before anyone acts on it.

Permits and inspections in Lake City

Lake City sits in Clayton County, but the city runs its own permit process. Since June 1, 2025, applications for building, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and land disturbance permits have gone through an online portal the city operates with its permitting contractor, Safebuilt. According to the city's permit FAQ, a trade permit such as plumbing has to be requested by a contractor who holds a state license and who submits copies of both state and local licenses. The same FAQ notes that work tying into a water or sewer main may need sign-off from CCWA as well as the city.

Inspections are not left to the trades themselves. Section 10-12 of the city code has the building official or an authorized representative inspect all permitted work, and it does not allow master plumbers or utility contractors to self-inspect water and sewer projects under state law. A kitchen or bathroom remodel that moves drains or supply lines should leave room in the calendar for those city visits.
