Remodeling Services in Doraville, GA

A remodel in Doraville starts with deciding what you want to change, but there is also some paperwork to plan for. Kitchens, bathrooms, basements, staircases, flooring, painting, room additions and new homes are all part of what Precision Remodeling does, and we can walk you through the steps the city asks for before work begins.

Affidavits and who does the work

Every Doraville permit needs a notarized affidavit, according to the city's Community Development permits page. If an owner who lives in the home full time does the work, it is a homeowner affidavit; if the owner hires a contractor, it is a property owner affidavit naming that contractor.

The city's residential permit checklist lists new plumbing lines and fixture work that alters piping among the jobs that need a permit, and it says plumbing and other trade work must be done by contractors who hold the proper license. Applications are taken online. Doraville sits in DeKalb County, and when a project also needs county review, the city provides a routing sheet.

Shaping the project

With the paperwork mapped out, the planning turns to the rooms themselves. In a bathroom, the big decisions are the layout, a shower or a tub, the tile and the ventilation. A kitchen comes down to cabinet layout, appliances and counters, and whether the sink or range stays where it is. For flooring, it is the material that suits each room: tile or vinyl where water is likely, carpet or wood where comfort matters more.

The written estimate records each choice and the order of the work, from demolition through final paint. If you decide to change something once work has started, the change is written up with its cost before it proceeds.
