LVP Flooring Installation in Redan, GA
Flooring rarely happens on its own. When LVP flooring installation in Redan is one part of a wider update with fresh paint, new baseboards, replaced doors or kitchen cabinets, the order of the work decides how clean the finish looks and how much of the new floor survives the other trades.
Rigid-core click-lock plank is tough, but ladders, paint drips and cabinet boxes slid into place can still mark it. A little scheduling avoids most of that.
Paint before plank, with one exception
Ceilings and walls are usually painted before the floor goes in, so drips and ladder feet land on old flooring that is about to be torn out. Baseboard is the exception. If new baseboard will be installed over the plank, it is often primed and painted beforehand, then caulked and touched up after it is fastened. That keeps brushes and rollers away from the new floor as much as possible.
Cabinets and built-ins come first
A floating floor stops at fixed cabinets, so new kitchen or bath cabinets are set before the plank goes down. The cabinet installer needs to know the finished floor height, especially where a dishwasher or range has to slide under the countertop. Built-in shelving and window seats follow the same rule. Freestanding pieces such as a hutch or a vanity on legs can sit on top of the finished floor.
Doors, casings and stair parts
Replacing interior doors at the same time as the floor is efficient, as long as the new slabs are cut for the new floor height. Door clearance is measured with a plank sample in hand. Casings are undercut so the planks slide beneath them, which is easier before fresh casings are painted. On the stairs, any railing or baluster work should be finished before treads and stair nose pieces are installed, so nothing heavy is dragged over the new parts.
Where the new floor meets the old
Projects often stop at a room boundary, leaving tile in a bath or carpet in a bedroom. Each adjoining surface is measured to see how much higher or lower the plank will sit, and a transition profile is chosen to suit: a T-molding at equal heights, a reducer down to a thinner floor, an end cap against a raised threshold. Picking these early lets the painter and trim carpenter work around them.
Plank size belongs in the same discussion. Long, wide boards make fewer seams at a doorway, but they show any unevenness near the transition more clearly.
Moisture, flatness and repairs in the schedule
Subfloor work happens after the old floor comes up and before any plank arrives in the room. A moisture test on concrete, straightedge checks on wood subfloors and any patching or grinding all need time to dry or cure. If removal reveals damaged subfloor, the repair is priced in writing as a change before it is done, and the dates for later trades shift accordingly. A modest repair allowance in the estimate helps if you expect surprises.
Protecting the floor after it is down
Once the planks are in, any trade still working gets a protective cover on the floor: breathable paper or a floor protection product suited to vinyl, taped to itself rather than to the plank surface. Tape on the planks can leave residue or lift the top layer. Ladders get padded feet, and heavy items are carried rather than rolled across the floor.

Scheduling questions about LVP in Redan
Should I paint the walls before or after LVP is installed?
Before, in most cases. Painting walls and ceilings first means drips and ladder marks land on the old floor that is about to come out. New baseboard can be painted before it goes on and touched up afterward. If the walls have to be painted later, the new floor should be covered with a protection material that is safe for vinyl.
Do new kitchen cabinets go in before or after LVP?
Before. A click-lock plank floor floats, so it should not be trapped under heavy fixed cabinets. The cabinets are set on the subfloor, and the plank is cut to their bases with an expansion gap that toe-kick trim covers. The cabinet installer should know the finished floor height so appliances still fit under the counter.
Who coordinates the trades in a combined flooring project?
When we handle the whole project, the order of trades goes into the written scope, and you know who is working in which room each day. If you hire separate contractors, give each one the finished floor height and the flooring dates so cabinets, doors and trim are cut and scheduled to fit around the new plank.
